The lovely warm, sunny weather is perfect for getting out in the garden – whether it’s planting colorful additions to the flower beds or enjoying a BBQ with friends. Maybe you need to visit a garden center, add plants, or treat yourself to a new set of BBQ or patio furniture.
There is an excellent range of attractions here in Leicestershire – and many of them have great cafes too. And we think a trip to the garden center is even better when you stop by the cafe for a treat and a cup of coffee!

Peach House Restaurant, Staunton Harold Nurseries and Garden Centre, near Ashby
Beautifully situated on Staunton Harold’s estate, this garden center offers a huge selection of plants, new patio furniture, their own products, gifts and much more.
Also here is the Peach House Restaurant – so named because it is in the Victorian Peach House built circa 1895 to grow peaches and other fruit for Earl Ferrers, who was living in Staunton Harold Hall at the time. Freshly prepared meals and snacks served daily in the restaurant.
The garden center is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (hot food until 3.15 p.m.), Sunday 10.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. (hot food until 3 p.m.) and Sunday 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (hot food until 3.15 p.m.).
Gardener’s Rest at Thurlaston Garden Centre, Thurlaston
This is a lovely garden center on Croft Road on the outskirts of the village of Thurlaston. It offers a range of plants and garden products, as well as homeware and gift items. There is also the Gardener’s Rest cafe and restaurant, which serves a range of food and beverages from cooked breakfasts and sandwiches to cakes and pastries.
The garden center is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
The café and restaurant is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cafe at Palmers Garden Centre, Enderby and Ullesthorpe
Family owned since 1911, Palmers offers everything you need for your garden, as well as gifts and items for the home. The cafes serve home-cooked food daily with breakfast, lunch and snacks.
The café in Enderby is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4.30pm and Sunday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The café in Ullesthorpe is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and Sunday from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Both garden centers are open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cafe in the Garden Center Sapcote, Sapcote
Sapcote Garden Center sells a wide range of plants, patio furniture, garden supplies and gifts. There is also a café serving a variety of cakes, snacks and main courses.
Opening hours are Monday – Saturday 9am – 6pm (cafe open 9.30am – 4pm, last order 15 minutes before closing) and Sunday 10.30am – 4.30pm (cafe open 10am – 3.30pm, last order 15 minutes before closing).
Sunnyside Restaurant, Sunnyside Garden Center, Ibstock
Plants, gardening products and gifts are sold at this Ibstock garden centre, which is also home to the recently opened Sunnyside Adventure indoor play area.
You will also find the large Sunnyside Restaurant serving drinks and food ranging from light snacks and cakes to a full English breakfast or cake of the day.
The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Global Pantry at Church View Nursery, Barkby
From bedding plants to vegetable plants, there is a good selection at Global Pantry. There are also antique/vintage items in the shop.
In the pretty gardens you will find Global Pantry’s food truck, where you can indulge in breakfast, lunch or homemade cakes.
Church View Nursery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30am to 4:30pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Global Pantry hours are 9:30am to 3:00pm Wednesday to Saturday and 10:00am to 3:00pm on Sundays. Food is served until 2:30pm daily and breakfast is available all day on Sundays.
The Langton Greenhouse and Garden Centre, East Langton
This garden center sells a wide range of products including garden and house plants, clothing, homeware and delicatessen. There is also the Greenhouse Cafe where you can dine al fresco or indoors under Mediterranean grape vines.
You can stop by for a cake and a coffee or for breakfast or lunch. The café offers a selection of draft beers and ciders, as well as bottled beers and ciders.
The opening times are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Daisy’s Tea Room at Brooklea Nursery, Rothley
At Brooklea Nursery you will find plants, trees and shrubs as well as gardening and landscaping items. It also houses Daisy’s Tea Room.
This retro beach hut themed tea room serves everything from breakfast and lunch to cake and coffee.
Brooklea Nursery is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 5:30pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Daisy’s Tea Room is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 4:00pm and Sunday from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
Garden Restaurant and Courtyard Coffee Shop, Gates Garden Centre, Cold Overton
Gates Garden Center is one of the largest garden centers in the country and has a huge range – including plants and garden products, grills and outdoor furniture, gifts and pet care. Keep that in mind for later in the year too as the Christmas exhibitions there are fantastic!
The garden center has a large garden restaurant where you can enjoy a meal, as well as a Courtyard Coffee Shop, which is an ideal place for a snack and a drink.
The garden center is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Garden Restaurant is open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 4.30pm (last meal orders at 4pm). The Courtyard Coffee Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (last food orders at 4:00 pm) and Sundays from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm (last food orders at 4:00 pm).
Mountain Restaurant, The Grange Garden Centre, Asfordby Hill, Melton
Plants, trees, garden furniture and household goods are among the items sold at The Grange garden centre. It also houses the mountain restaurant inspired by French ski huts.
You can enjoy the restaurant’s speciality, tartiflette – layered jacket potatoes, white wine, garlic, onions, bacon and cream, hot bubbly in Reblechon cheese, served in a hot skillet with side salad and crusty bread – or one of the many other mealtime snacks on offer .
The garden center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The restaurant is also open from 9am to 5pm, serving hot food until 3.30pm and cakes from then until closing.
