Fairview water main project may disrupt city next week | community columns

Hello Barackville!

I kinda like this last little cold snap lately. It gives me the illusion that I still have time to get my garden in order! I’ve just ordered blocks for some raised beds and will be leveling them and ordering soil from our local horse farm to fill them in.

Some of online gardener Scott’s advice is to put organic matter at the bottom of the bed, twigs, branches, leaves, etc. anything you can look for in the forest that will later break down and make more soil. This saves some money and means the top of the bed can focus on the better soil I need to buy. So if the weather and my back cooperate, I should be ready to plant by Mother’s Day.

Road works on monumental aqueducts

Pro-Contracting and Monumental Water are working through Barrackville to bring water lines to Fairview. As we know, Fairview has struggled with the quality of their water for years. We will be having a brief inconvenience on some of our roads to bring safe drinking water to your community. This is not a Barrackville Town Council project. Pro-Contracting and Monumental Water will be working their way through the city over the next few weeks, driving from the Covered Bridge through High, Bryan, Rice, Pike to Smith Road and finally Route 250. Some disruption to the lines from Barrackville is expected. Barrackville City Council is not involved in the disruption or repair of these incidents. If you are affected by the work of Pro-Contracting and Monumental PSD, please contact them at 304-363-1700 or 304-363-7025.

Contact Information: If you have news for our column, contact Diana Marple by email [email protected] or by phone at 304-376-1759 before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
